Cooking Course with a Mimosa Difference
Multiple-award winning chef, winemaker of note and proprietor of Mimosa Lodge, Bernhard Hess are offering culinary connoisseurs the chance to rack-up some experience in a working kitchen with Mimosa’s Cooking Course with a Difference. Recently voted one of the Top 15 restaurants in the Eat Out People’s Choice Awards 2008, Mimosa Lodge is situated in the heart of Montagu, a quaint and well-kept town reminiscent of a bygone era at the gateway to Route 62. Fine hospitality, superb cuisine and exceptional wines, are daily faire for the purveyors of this four-star establishment – a two hour drive from Cape Town at the foothills of the picturesque Langeberg Mountains. The Course runs over a period of 3 days – from Friday to Monday – presenting the perfect getaway opportunity to boot.
Amongst other things, interested aficionado’s can expect to learn and
experience the following:
Trips to the local market to inspect and select fresh ingredients.
Tips on how best to decide what to cook with seasonable produce available
at the time .
A visit to the Robertson Wine Valley for expert insight into wine pairing;
the selection of the most suitable wines to compliment each dish you’ll
prepare.
A hands-on ‘how to’ guide on making easy stocks and sauces bursting with
flavour.
Finessing the art of portions; how much to plate and serve guests to ensure
satisfaction.
The course culminates with work experience in a real operating kitchen
environment, from preparation to plating, and sending out food to eager
restaurant patrons.
Partners who gladly attend as willing testers and tasters but who mightn’t be interested in cooking can gladly whisk themselves off to a variety of activities arranged by Mimosa Lodge ranging from Golf, Quad Biking, Mountain Climbing, Spa Treatments etc.

The Mimosa Cooking Course with a Difference package includes accommodation, breakfast, lunch, wine & dine dinner at Mimosa’s restaurant. All other activities and extras such as drinks are for your own account.
